NME Magazine Analysis

When looking at the magazine the key elements i found were the following:

The magazine name is behind the characters, meaning the magazine is well known as it would be risky for a new magazine to hide its brand title.

The band is looking straight in to the lense of the camera so there is direct eye contact made with the reader. This could be used to attract reader’s attention.

The colour scheme is three basic colours consisting of black, white and red.

The bands clothes go very well with the background and text as they are the same colour. They are both wearing red trousers but the man takes on the black scheme (black t-shirt and shoes) and the woman the white (white shirt and shoes). This could be seen as effective because there aren’t many colours which stand out, the band almost blends in with the background but it’s their very pale skin which helps them stand out.

The barcode is in a suitable place as it doesn’t get in the way or distract the reader at all. It’s also quite small and doesn’t take up much of the cover.

Important text is in black which helps it stand out from the other white text. The magazine has used a very effective method of attracting the reader’s attention by emphasising the letters ‘RIP’ in black. The magazine’s main article is about a band breaking up and I feel this method helps draw attention to this article.
